Kristin DuFour is a Chicago-based abstract painter whose work is rooted in material and process. Before focusing on painting, she spent years working with her hands in other creative fields, an experience that continues to shape how she approaches the canvas.

Her practice began as an intuitive exploration and has grown into a close study of how surfaces behave: how materials accumulate, resist, and reveal themselves over time. Working in layers, she creates compositions that feel weathered, atmospheric, and grounded.

Her work reflects an ongoing interest in how something develops through accumulation, how marks shift, settle, and emerge through process rather than intention alone.
